| CVE-2025-4598 | 5 Debian, Linux, Oracle and 2 more | 6 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel, Linux and 3 more | 2026-05-19 | N/A | 4.7 MEDIUM |
| A vulnerability was found in systemd-coredump. This flaw allows an attacker to force a SUID process to crash and replace it with a non-SUID binary to access the original's privileged process coredump, allowing the attacker to read sensitive data, such as /etc/shadow content, loaded by the original process. A SUID binary or process has a special type of permission, which allows the process to run with the file owner's permissions, regardless of the user executing the binary. This allows the process to access more restricted data than unprivileged users or processes would be able to. An attacker can leverage this flaw by forcing a SUID process to crash and force the Linux kernel to recycle the process PID before systemd-coredump can analyze the /proc/pid/auxv file. If the attacker wins the race condition, they gain access to the original's SUID process coredump file. They can read sensitive content loaded into memory by the original binary, affecting data confidentiality. | |||||

| CVE-2017-15908 | 2 Canonical, Systemd Project | 2 Ubuntu Linux, Systemd | 2026-05-13 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| In systemd 223 through 235, a remote DNS server can respond with a custom crafted DNS NSEC resource record to trigger an infinite loop in the dns_packet_read_type_window() function of the 'systemd-resolved' service and cause a DoS of the affected service. | |||||
| CVE-2017-9217 | 1 Systemd Project | 1 Systemd | 2026-05-13 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| systemd-resolved through 233 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (daemon crash) via a crafted DNS response with an empty question section. | |||||
| CVE-2015-7510 | 1 Systemd Project | 1 Systemd | 2026-05-13 | 7.5 HIGH | 9.8 CRITICAL |
| Stack-based buffer overflow in the getpwnam and getgrnam functions of the NSS module nss-mymachines in systemd. | |||||
| CVE-2016-10156 | 1 Systemd Project | 1 Systemd | 2026-05-13 | 7.2 HIGH | 7.8 HIGH |
| A flaw in systemd v228 in /src/basic/fs-util.c caused world writable suid files to be created when using the systemd timers features, allowing local attackers to escalate their privileges to root. This is fixed in v229. | |||||
| CVE-2017-9445 | 1 Systemd Project | 1 Systemd | 2026-05-13 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| In systemd through 233, certain sizes passed to dns_packet_new in systemd-resolved can cause it to allocate a buffer that's too small. A malicious DNS server can exploit this via a response with a specially crafted TCP payload to trick systemd-resolved into allocating a buffer that's too small, and subsequently write arbitrary data beyond the end of it. | |||||
| CVE-2012-0871 | 2 Opensuse, Systemd Project | 2 Opensuse, Systemd | 2026-05-06 | 6.3 MEDIUM | N/A |
| The session_link_x11_socket function in login/logind-session.c in systemd-logind in systemd, possibly 37 and earlier, allows local users to create or overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on the X11 user directory in /run/user/. | |||||
| CVE-2016-7796 | 3 Novell, Redhat, Systemd Project | 9 Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop, Suse Linux Enterprise Server, Suse Linux Enterprise Server For Sap and 6 more | 2026-05-06 | 4.9 MEDIUM | 5.5 MEDIUM |
| The manager_dispatch_notify_fd function in systemd allows local users to cause a denial of service (system hang) via a zero-length message received over a notify socket, which causes an error to be returned and the notification handler to be disabled. | |||||
| CVE-2016-7795 | 2 Canonical, Systemd Project | 2 Ubuntu Linux, Systemd | 2026-05-06 | 4.9 MEDIUM | 5.5 MEDIUM |
| The manager_invoke_notify_message function in systemd 231 and earlier allows local users to cause a denial of service (assertion failure and PID 1 hang) via a zero-length message received over a notify socket. | |||||
| CVE-2026-40228 | 1 Systemd Project | 1 Systemd | 2026-05-05 | N/A | 2.9 LOW |
| In systemd 259, systemd-journald can send ANSI escape sequences to the terminals of arbitrary users when a "logger -p emerg" command is executed, if ForwardToWall=yes is set. | |||||
| CVE-2013-4327 | 3 Canonical, Debian, Systemd Project | 3 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Systemd | 2026-04-29 | 6.9 MEDIUM | N/A |
| systemd does not properly use D-Bus for communication with a polkit authority, which allows local users to bypass intended access restrictions by leveraging a PolkitUnixProcess PolkitSubject race condition via a (1) setuid process or (2) pkexec process, a related issue to CVE-2013-4288. | |||||
| CVE-2013-4392 | 1 Systemd Project | 1 Systemd | 2026-04-29 | 3.3 LOW | 5.0 MEDIUM |
