In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: firmware: qcom: qseecom: fix memory leaks in error paths Fix instances of returning error codes directly instead of jumping to the relevant labels where memory allocated for the SCM calls would be freed.
CVE-2024-35853 2 Debian, Linux 2 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel 2025-04-07 N/A 6.4 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix memory leak during rehash The rehash delayed work migrates filters from one region to another. This is done by iterating over all chunks (all the filters with the same priority) in the region and in each chunk iterating over all the filters. If the migration fails, the code tries to migrate the filters back to the old region. However, the rollback itself can also fail in which case another migration will be erroneously performed. Besides the fact that this ping pong is not a very good idea, it also creates a problem. Each virtual chunk references two chunks: The currently used one ('vchunk->chunk') and a backup ('vchunk->chunk2'). During migration the first holds the chunk we want to migrate filters to and the second holds the chunk we are migrating filters from. The code currently assumes - but does not verify - that the backup chunk does not exist (NULL) if the currently used chunk does not reference the target region. This assumption breaks when we are trying to rollback a rollback, resulting in the backup chunk being overwritten and leaked [1]. Fix by not rolling back a failed rollback and add a warning to avoid future cases. CVE-2025-1148 1 Gnu 1 Binutils 2025-04-04 2.6 LOW 3.1 LOW
A vulnerability was found in GNU Binutils 2.43 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function link_order_scan of the file ld/ldelfgen.c of the component ld. The manipulation leads to memory leak. The attack may be launched remotely. The complexity of an attack is rather high. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. It is recommended to apply a patch to fix this issue. The code maintainer explains: "I'm not going to commit some of the leak fixes I've been working on to the 2.44 branch due to concern that would destabilise ld. All of the reported leaks in this bugzilla have been fixed on binutils master."
CVE-2023-52581 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-04-04 N/A 6.3 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nf_tables: fix memleak when more than 255 elements expired When more than 255 elements expired we're supposed to switch to a new gc container structure. This never happens: u8 type will wrap before reaching the boundary and nft_trans_gc_space() always returns true. This means we recycle the initial gc container structure and lose track of the elements that came before. While at it, don't deref 'gc' after we've passed it to call_rcu.
CVE-2021-47089 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-04-04 N/A 3.3 LOW
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: kfence: fix memory leak when cat kfence objects Hulk robot reported a kmemleak problem: unreferenced object 0xffff93d1d8cc02e8 (size 248): comm "cat", pid 23327, jiffies 4624670141 (age 495992.217s) hex dump (first 32 bytes): 00 40 85 19 d4 93 ff ff 00 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 .@.............. 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ backtrace: seq_open+0x2a/0x80 full_proxy_open+0x167/0x1e0 do_dentry_open+0x1e1/0x3a0 path_openat+0x961/0xa20 do_filp_open+0xae/0x120 do_sys_openat2+0x216/0x2f0 do_sys_open+0x57/0x80 do_syscall_64+0x33/0x40 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xa9 unreferenced object 0xffff93d419854000 (size 4096): comm "cat", pid 23327, jiffies 4624670141 (age 495992.217s) hex dump (first 32 bytes): 6b 66 65 6e 63 65 2d 23 32 35 30 3a 20 30 78 30 kfence-#250: 0x0 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 37 35 34 62 64 61 31 32 2d 0000000754bda12- backtrace: seq_read_iter+0x313/0x440 seq_read+0x14b/0x1a0 full_proxy_read+0x56/0x80 vfs_read+0xa5/0x1b0 ksys_read+0xa0/0xf0 do_syscall_64+0x33/0x40 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xa9 I find that we can easily reproduce this problem with the following commands: cat /sys/kernel/debug/kfence/objects echo scan > /sys/kernel/debug/kmemleak cat /sys/kernel/debug/kmemleak The leaked memory is allocated in the stack below: do_syscall_64 do_sys_open do_dentry_open full_proxy_open seq_open ---> alloc seq_file vfs_read full_proxy_read seq_read seq_read_iter traverse ---> alloc seq_buf And it should have been released in the following process: do_syscall_64 syscall_exit_to_user_mode exit_to_user_mode_prepare task_work_run ____fput __fput full_proxy_release ---> free here However, the release function corresponding to file_operations is not implemented in kfence. As a result, a memory leak occurs. Therefore, the solution to this problem is to implement the corresponding release function.
CVE-2021-47231 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-04-04 N/A 5.5 MEDIUM
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: mcba_usb: fix memory leak in mcba_usb Syzbot reported memory leak in SocketCAN driver for Microchip CAN BUS Analyzer Tool. The problem was in unfreed usb_coherent. In mcba_usb_start() 20 coherent buffers are allocated and there is nothing, that frees them: 1) In callback function the urb is resubmitted and that's all 2) In disconnect function urbs are simply killed, but URB_FREE_BUFFER is not set (see mcba_usb_start) and this flag cannot be used with coherent buffers. Fail log: | [ 1354.053291][ T8413] mcba_usb 1-1:0.0 can0: device disconnected | [ 1367.059384][ T8420] kmemleak: 20 new suspected memory leaks (see /sys/kernel/debug/kmem) So, all allocated buffers should be freed with usb_free_coherent() explicitly NOTE: The same pattern for allocating and freeing coherent buffers is used in drivers/net/can/usb/kvaser_usb/kvaser_usb_core.c
